So nowadays no one advises new freelancers in Bangladesh to build a career by working on Upwork, because many people are ignorant of the strict rules and regulations of Upwork and lack of proper skills. Upwork account and profile creation:

    To apply for a job on Upwork, you must first open an account on Upwork. In this case, an email address will be required. Email verification is done to confirm the account. Signup form must be filled with correct information while creating an account. Once the account is confirmed, you need to edit your profile professionally. Go to "Edit Profile" while you are logged in to Upwork to edit your account. It is best to use a clear profile picture with a happy smile. Profiles can include examples of your past work. It makes the buyer trust you. Moreover, if there is any certificate in the work in which you are an expert, then you can use it. In the title, clearly state the tasks you want to do so that anyone can understand that you are good at those tasks. It is very important. Because this is the first thing clients will see with your name. If the client likes seeing this, they will be interested to see the rest of your profile. Write the overview nicely. Can't copy paste. It is best to write it yourself. If not you can get ideas from somewhere else. Here you can add the subjects that you are good at. Do minimum 5 dollars, that too until the first feedback. Then continue to increase. 100% profiling is not possible without skilltest. A skill test is required to complete the profile. Anyone who has knowledge on the subject and is interested in working can take the skill test on that subject. If you score well in the skill test, display it on your profile. It will make the profile strong and professional.

How to apply for a job on Upwork:

    Clicking on the job will bring up the description of the job the client will provide you with. Read it carefully and see if you can. What is the type of work? If it is hourly it will be written hourly, if it is fixed then it will be written fixed. Then there is how many days to complete the work, when the work was posted and many more. You have to read and understand. If you bid within 10 minutes of a job post, you have a higher chance of getting a job.

1) Applying for a job on Upwork is called a bid. There is a fixed bid quota of 30 for your account. That means you can apply for 30 jobs in a month. So understand and use your quota well. There is no point in wasting your quota just by bidding. Additionally, additional bids can be purchased.

3) Try to be online a lot, so that you don't delay in replying to the client who messages you for any reason.

4) Check client profile before bidding. Things to look out for while checking client profiles:


– How many hours the client has worked so far.

– Whether the client's payment method is verified.

- If the client has done the type of work you are bidding on before, check how much it has been rated. Bid accordingly. A cover letter is required for bidding.

Rules for writing a cover letter:

    Cover letter should be written in English. For this, it is necessary to have a good knowledge of English. Don't make the cover letter too long.

    If possible, try to explain to the client by writing one or two lines that you can do the job, then the client will be happy the most. Clients' time is valuable. If you see a big cover letter, the client will not read it again.

    Think of yourself as a client. Now imagine how someone told you to do the work by spending money. Do not use someone else's cover letter as your own. Even if you know little English. Because you probably wrote the cover letter with someone who speaks English very well. The client will call you for an interview before offering the job. Then seeing that your English writing style is different, then the trust in you will be lost in the beginning. That's why you won't get the job. Don't use the same cover letter over and over again. That is, whatever you write, everyone should understand the job description while bidding. Give samples of your work without talking too much. This will give you the equivalent of speaking 5000 lines. Don't try to impress the client by singing your praises or begging for mercy in your cover letter. Understand the project well and prepare the cover letter accordingly. Never forget your email, skype id, yahoo, these can't be given in cover letter. Give your contact details only when the client knocks you.

Structure of Cover Letter:

    Bangladeshi people prefer to start the cover letter as Sir. But foreigners prefer to be addressed with hi, hello. If you present yourself as an expert when writing a cover letter, the buyer will trust you. By reading the project, you can write a line at the beginning of the letter to convey that you have a good understanding of the client's needs. Now try to explain what you can do. Mention your previous experience in this type of work. While you are waiting for the client's reply, write a line like this. He ended the letter by mentioning his name with thanks.


                                                       The cover letter should convey three things to the buyer.

                                                      a) You understand the job description well.

                                                      b) How do you want to do the work?

                                                      c) The work is not a new experience for you.

Start working:

    If the client selects you for the job, the client will interview you. If the client thinks you deserve the job then get the job. Download Upwork Team software from Upwork for hourly work, install it on PC. Now before starting work select the task and click on start. You will see, the working hours have started counting. The software will periodically take a screenshot of your computer, and send it back to the client. Once the job is done, you will receive a notification when the client completes the contract by paying you. Now the client will give feedback, you also have to give feedback about the client. This feedback is out of 5. Only one can see the other if both parties give feedback. Good feedback helps you get more work later. If you get bad feedback, you can delete it. If you refund the client's payment, that negative feedback will no longer appear on your profile. You can refund the client's payment by clicking on “Give Refund” on the notification page. After the client pays you, the payment will be pending for about a week and then credited to your Odesk account. Click on “Transaction History” to know your current balance and pending balance.
